Welcome to SeaLantern! This agreement is a legal agreement between you and the SeaLantern development team (“we”, “us”, or “the team”) regarding your use of the SeaLantern software and related services (“the software”). We prepare this agreement in accordance with laws and regulations such as the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China and the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, in order to protect your right to be informed.
Please read and fully understand all terms of this agreement before using the software. If you do not agree to any term of this agreement, please stop using the software immediately.
1. General Terms
1.1 Software nature
The software is an open-source Minecraft server management tool. Its source code is released under the GPLv3 license.
1.2 Transparency principle
We are committed to treating every user transparently and honestly. This agreement truthfully explains the actual status of information processing.
1.3 Acceptance of agreement
By using the software, you are deemed to have read and agreed to this agreement.
2. Current Information Collection Status
As of the effective date of this agreement, SeaLantern itself does not collect any personal information. Details are as follows:
2.1 No automatic information collection
During operation, the software does not actively collect, upload, or store any device information, usage logs, crash reports, IP addresses, or other information that can identify an individual. All operations are completed on your local device.
2.2 No sensitive permissions requested
The software does not request sensitive operating-system permissions such as contacts, SMS, or location. Its functions are limited to managing local Minecraft servers and related file operations.
2.3 Information voluntarily provided by users
When you contact us through GitHub Issues, email, or community channels, you may voluntarily provide contact information such as your GitHub username or email address, as well as feedback content. This information is used only to communicate with you and is provided voluntarily by you. It is not automatically collected by the software.
3. Possible Future Changes
3.1 Notice of changes
As the software evolves, we may add certain information collection features in the future, such as anonymous crash reports or feature usage statistics, to improve software quality. Any such change will:
- Be clearly announced in advance through GitHub announcements or community notices;
- Explain the type, purpose, and usage of collected information in the privacy agreement;
- Obtain your explicit consent when required by law.
3.2 Right to refuse
You have the right to refuse future information collection at any time, such as choosing not to enable crash reporting.
4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
4.1 Current status
Because the software currently does not collect information, there is currently no information sharing.
4.2 Future exceptions
If information collection is added in the future, we promise not to sell, rent, or otherwise provide your personal information to third parties, except in the following cases:
- With your explicit consent;
- When required by laws, regulations, legal procedures, or government authorities;
- When necessary to protect the lawful rights and interests of us, other users, or the public.
5. User Rights
Under the Personal Information Protection Law, you have rights such as accessing, correcting, deleting, and withdrawing consent for your personal information. Because we currently do not collect information, there is no need to exercise these rights at this time. If information collection is added in the future, we will provide convenient channels for you to exercise your rights.
6. Information Storage and Security
6.1 Local storage
All current data of the software is stored on your local device and does not involve cloud storage.
6.2 Future storage rules
If information collection is added in the future, personal information of users within the People's Republic of China will be stored within the territory of the People's Republic of China in accordance with law. If cross-border transfer is required, we will separately notify you and obtain your separate consent.
7. Protection of Minors
7.1 Current status
The software is available to all users, including minors. Because the software currently does not collect information, minors may use it with confidence.
7.2 Future protection measures
If information collection is added in the future, we will strictly comply with the Law on the Protection of Minors and provide special protection for the personal information of users under the age of 14.
8. Disclaimer
8.1 Software as provided
The software is provided “as is”, without any express or implied warranty. We do not guarantee that the software will be completely error-free, uninterrupted, or meet your specific needs.
8.2 Usage risks
You understand and agree that operations involving the software, such as starting a Minecraft server or installing plugins, involve risks including but not limited to data loss and server crashes. We will make every reasonable effort to reduce such risks, but we are not liable for any direct or indirect losses. This limitation does not apply to losses caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
8.3 Third-party content
The software may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or conduct of such third parties.
9. Changes to This Agreement
9.1 Modification and publication
We may modify this agreement from time to time based on changes in laws and regulations or software functionality. The modified agreement will be published through in-software announcements, the GitHub repository, or other channels.
9.2 Continued use
If you continue to use the software, you are deemed to have agreed to the modified agreement. If you do not agree to the modification, please stop using the software.
10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
10.1 Governing law
The formation, performance, interpretation, and dispute resolution of this agreement are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China.
10.2 Dispute resolution
Any dispute arising from or related to this agreement shall first be resolved through friendly negotiation. If negotiation fails, either party may submit the dispute to the People's Court of Nanshan District, Shenzhen for litigation.
